Mayan – compare and contrast

In the Mayan culture, the main entertainment was POC-a-Toc. A game which now it’s like basketball. That is something that similar to our lives now but we do not have to go watch it live (we can) but the Mayan did have to watch it live because they didn’t have a tv. So this is a difference.

In Mayan times, there was a strict social structure. There was a higher class which had a ruler and priest, the middle class which were businessmen, in the lower class they had farmers and soldiers and it was hard to get out of the class. Now we don’t have such a strict social structure and to can go in and out and it easier to get a job. You just need an education.

In conclusion, life was very different in the Mayan times but there are some similarities too.

  1. Hi Tdrm70,

I liked reading your post about the Mayan culture. Would you have liked to watch a Poc a Toc game? I think it would be neat to try and play it at recess one day. Are you happy that you live in an age when it is easier to move between social classes? I sure am! We just need to make sure everyone can get a good education.

    Have fun in Grade 4!
    Mrs. Bennett 🙂
